getting answers about teeth in a day procedures

Have you been putting off getting teeth extracted because you did not want to have to walk around without any teeth? I put the procedure off for three years before finally learning about the availability of teeth in a day procedures at local dentistry practices. Even after learning about the procedures I was still unsure if it was for me. I did not know if I would be a good candidate, if I could afford it, and exactly how it would work. I have compiled all of the information that I gathered to help others learn about this wonderful process.

4 Tips To Help You Recover After Dental Implant Surgery

If you are missing teeth due to dental extraction, trauma, or other causes, you have probably already researched all the treatment options available to you. Once you've settled on dental implants as a solution, you'll need to find an excellent oral surgeon to complete the procedure for you. While a dentist like those at Couchman Center for Complete Dentistry will do the work of installing your new implants, you will have to do your part to assist in the healing process. Here are four tips to help you recover after dental implant surgery:

1. Be gentle on your mouth at first.

Dental implants take time to heal. They are implanted directly into your jaw bone during surgery, which means your body will need time to recover. During the healing process, avoid putting unnecessary stress on your new implant. You may want to drink smoothies and stick to soft foods such as applesauce for the first few days following your procedure. Avoid any action that causes pain since that is a signal from your body indicating that you should stop.

2. Take painkillers as needed.

After your implant procedure, your dentist may send you home with prescription pain medication. Follow the directions given by your dentist and pharmacist and take the medication only as often as needed. Once your pain levels have reduced a few days to a week post-surgery, you may switch to over-the-counter painkillers to manage your discomfort.

3. Use home remedies to provide relief.

If you're feeling discomfort but you can't take additional painkillers yet, you can turn to home remedies for relief. Try wrapping a piece of ice in a washcloth and holding it to the outside of your mouth. This can reduce swelling and provide a soothing sensation. You can also mix a saline solution by dissolving a spoonful of salt in warm water. While it may not taste very good, swishing warm salt water in your mouth can reduce your pain and promote fast healing.

4. See your dentist if you notice signs of infection.

According to Authority Dental, in most cases, pain following dental implant surgery should not last longer than ten days. If your pain is increasing or not getting any better, you should make an appointment with your dentist. They can check to ensure that everything is healing properly. You should also check with your dentist if your swelling lasts longer than a week, or if you notice pus or other signs of infection.
